Registrations for 2023 kindergarten will open in March next year.

For 2022, we had 2,109 kindergarten places available for allocation through Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Kindergarten Central Registration. This included 1,300 four-year-old (4YO) places and 809 three-year-old (3YO) places.

With the introduction of two years of funded kindergarten from 2022, we are implementing a new level to the Kindergarten Priority of Access / Allocation Criteria. We surveyed families to gain feedback on allocation of places for children currently enrolled and registering at the same service the following year.

This new level will help to provide continuity of learning, support social and emotional development and opportunities for strengthening connections between families and community.

The feedback provided will help to inform the 2023 Priority of Access / Allocation Criteria.

Please note, Priority of Access/Allocation Criteria only affects oversubscribed kindergartens, that is, those services that received more registrations than available places. Please refer to the 2022 Kindergarten Central Registration Information Book for further information.

Current Priority of Access / Allocation Criteria

Our current Priority of Access / Allocation Criteria provides a process that is fair and equitable for all families to support their access to community kindergarten programs across the Shire. The first level of priority is compulsory and informed by the Department of Education and Training Priority of Access Criteria.

Level 1 - children identified as high priority
Level 2 - children eligible for the sibling priority
Level 3 - children registered for the Kindergarten ‘closest to where they live’
Level 4 - children whose families are Mornington Peninsula Shire residents
