Civic Reserve Master Plan Refresh

Earlier this year, we asked community members to share their ideas for improving Civic Reserve in Mornington. Based on their feedback and that of the numerous user groups and sports clubs of the reserve, we’ve updated the Civic Reserve Master Plan.

Now, we want to know if we got it right! We’re asking all users of Civic Reserve to review the draft plan and let us know if we’ve found the right balance.

The aim of the refreshed plan is to make the precinct user-friendly and enjoyable for all. Key updates to the draft Master Plan include:

  • The recently built athletics track, soccer fields, sports pavilion and outdoor exercise node.
  • Improving the health and amenity of the existing lakes.
  • Expanding the playground to include nature play and all abilities play equipment.
  • Improving open spaces to accommodate walking, running, leisure and unstructured play.
  • Creating a new multi-generational space in the north-west corner of the reserve. Informed by ideas from community members, this area could include multi-use courts, skate/scooter facilities, ninja warrior course, seniors exercise equipment or facilities to encourage social connections (subject to future consultation).
  • Installing a separate enclosure for small dogs in the off-leash area.
  • Improving the internal path network and connect to paths in surrounding streets, public transport and park facilities.
  • Formalising and sealing gravel carparks and internal roads.
  • Transforming the swale drain near the tennis courts to an attractive flowing waterway with small pools, riffles and landscaping.
  • General improvements such as soft landscaping, park furniture and public art.
  • Building a vehicle access road into Civic Reserve via Mornington-Tyabb Road (subject to detailed design, approval from DTP and planning permissions).
