Pet ownership has many benefits for health and wellbeing. The welfare of pets and protection of the community and the environment from nuisance dogs and cats are also important.

Council has now adopted the new Domestic Animal Management Plan 2021-2025, which all Victorian Councils must produce every four years. The Plan outlines the Shire’s approach to animal management (dogs and cats) and seek to balance the needs of pet owners with the rest of our community.

How we consulted.

In May 2021 we asked our community to let us know their thoughts around responsible pet ownership. Following this consultation we used your input to develop the the draft Domestic Animal Management Plan 2021-2025. We asked for your feedback on the draft Plan from 25 August to 22 September 2021.

We reviewed your feedback which will help us finalise the Plan, prior to it being presented to Council for adoption 1 November 2021.
