The October storm left a trail of devastation across the Peninsula.

We dedicated every suitable resource to the clean-up effort, including additional subcontractors. Since October, we’ve worked through more than 3500 requests for assistance from the community.

The good news is, we have finished responding to all initial requests for assistance and are now attending to requests from January onwards.

With the completion of the initial response works ensuring a safe passage for all across the Peninsula, teams are now working through the final stage of response, with nearly 200 stump removal jobs scheduled.

With the thousands of cases actioned, there may be some we’ve missed. If you still need help or have questions about a request you have raised about the storm clean-up, we encourage you to contact customer service on 1300 850 600 for assistance.

Please note, the Shire cannot clean up private storm debris. If you need help removing your own green waste, you can book a kerbside collection with your tip vouchers by calling 5950 1406.

Upcoming work in your area

What are our next steps?

An enormous amount of work has been completed! All cases raised initially in response to the storm are now complete – over 3,600 cases have been assessed, prioritised, made safe and rectified. Crews have continued to work tirelessly in challenging times to ensure the Peninsula is safe and accessible for all.

Due to the scale of the event, additional cases are still being brought to the attention of Council. These few cases, as well as some planned stump removals across the Peninsula are now aligned with reactive planned maintenance works along with proactive tree response works.
