An upgraded oval and new pavilion are just some of the planned improvements for Stringer Road Reserve, in Blairgowrie.

Mornington Peninsula Shire has developed a draft concept plan for Stringer Road Reserve.

The plan includes improved sporting facilities to accommodate the growing needs of junior football, women’s football and cricket.

Two tennis courts are proposed to be resurfaced with one of the courts to include a half basketball court, providing more recreational options for the community.

A new play space for children of all ages and a BBQ area will create a place for the community to gather and entertain – something we can all look forward to again.

This is one of the projects we’re working on to encourage increased participation in sport and recreation across the Peninsula.

The draft concept plan proposes:

  • upgrading the oval and installing lighting to better accommodate junior football, women’s football and cricket
  • a new pavilion to service the oval with change rooms and toilets to suit both girls and boys participating in sport
  • resurfacing the two existing recreational tennis courts
  • a new play space for children of all ages and amenities for people of all abilities
  • picnic and barbeque facilities
  • upgrading existing trails in the reserve, including SLIPS Bushland Reserve
  • realigning the road to improve the link between the sport and recreational areas in the reserve
  • protecting existing vegetation.
