Community Vision check in

Can you believe it’s been three years since we created our Community Vision!

Shaped by the feedback of more than 3,000 Mornington Peninsula residents, the Community Vision gives us a clear picture of what you want the Peninsula to look like in 2040.

We are now checking in to hear if the Vision still feels right to you, if there is anything missing, and where you would like Council to focus its efforts.

What you tell us will help shape our next Council and Wellbeing, Finance and Asset Plans for 2025–2029, and guide our delivery of the Vision.

Community Vision

Welcome (Wominjeka) to the Mornington Peninsula, bound by green spaces and sea. We honour and pay respects to the Traditional Owners of this beautiful land – the Bunurong people. We also pay our deepest respects to their Ancestors and Elders. We are inspired to protect and enhance our distinct region that values its diverse community, environments and townships. Our community spirit thrives, with safe, accessible and inclusive spaces for all. Together we continue to create a sustainable, vibrant and prosperous future that values innovation and shared compassion.

The seven guiding principles of the Community Vision are:

  1. Addressing climate change
  2. Integrated public transport and accessibility infrastructure
  3. Support an inclusive, connected and safe society
  4. Innovative planning and development of the local economy
  5. Encourage and expand education, sports and arts opportunities
  6. Protect and enhance all elements of our natural land, sea and biodiverse environments
  7. Plan and regulate responsible and innovative housing development.
