Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback about the David MacFarlan Playground earlier this year. Your ideas have informed the concept design.

We’re now checking back in with you to make sure we got the design right.

  • You said you wanted slides, swings, climbing and balancing features (most requested).

    We included:

    • A large play unit with both double and single slides
    • Rope climbers and balancing elements
    • A swing set with standard, infant, and accessible swings
  • You said safety and visibility were important.

    We included:

    • Protective screening on the cricket net fence to reduce ball-related risks
    • A layout that maintains clear sightlines across the play space
  • You said the space should be inclusive and accessible.

    We included:

    • Sensory play panels integrated into landing areas
    • Wheelchair access to key areas and interactive elements

What’s next?

If the community supports the draft design, we’ll move ahead with detailed planning. This will make the project “shovel-ready”, meaning we’ll be ready to apply for funding and take the next steps toward getting this playground built.

Funding may come from Council’s Capital Works Program or external grants. Once the design is confirmed, we’ll seek the right funding to deliver the project.
