We know our community is facing challenging economic conditions. Rising fuel prices, cost-of-living pressures and broader uncertainty are affecting households, businesses and Council alike.

With this in mind, Council aims to get the basics right.

The draft 2026-27 Delivering What Matters Most Budget has been shaped by extensive community feedback for the last three years through the Council Plan and previous budget consultations. You have consistently told us what matters most.

For the first time, Council has also prepared a draft Long‑Term Capital Works Plan with a 10‑year outlook to better plan and deliver infrastructure where it is needed most. We are seeking to ensure critical priorities are considered, and to guide the ongoing development and expansion of this plan.

With limited Council resources and rising costs, choices must be made about how services are delivered. Your feedback will help us understand what service trade‑offs are most acceptable and where Council can deliver the greatest value for the community.

Three Key Questions for Consultation

  1. Have we got the priorities and investment levels right in the draft Delivering What Matters Most Budget 2026-27?
  2. How useful and clear is the new Long –Term Capital Works Plan?
  3. How can Council best support the community through cost‑of‑living and fuel price pressures, including rate options and other support measures while balancing that with long‑term financial sustainability?

Why Your Feedback Matters

Your feedback will help inform final Budget decisions and how Council can balance affordability and services.
