A local community group has applied for funding to upgrade the off-leash dog park at Grant Road, Somerville. The proposal includes installing internal fences and gates to create separate areas within the park, while keeping all areas off-leash.
We asked the community for feedback and preferred option (September to October 2025). The consultation aimed to understand whether the park should remain as it is or be upgraded to better meet the needs of local dog owners and visitors.
Here’s what you told us:
Are you happy with the dog park as it currently is?
• Yes, keep it as it is: 30 %
• No, I think it needs improvements: 70%
If you support an upgrade, which option would you prefer?
• Option A: 51%
• Option B: 11%
• Option C: 12%
• None, keep it as is: 26%
Option A received the most votes.
Next Steps
We will endorse the application for improvements to the dog park and send it to the Community Capital Infrastructure Projects (CCIP) team for consideration.
Option A received the strongest support, and this will guide the design and implementation phase.
Community endorsement is an important step, and the final decision rests with CCIP through their grant assessment process - dependent on funding.
