Fifteen years of preventable deaths and serious injuries on our roads is unacceptable. That is why we are committed to reducing road trauma and we need your help to make our roads safer for everyone.
Previous consultation last year (2025-2026)
Crash data matters but it doesn’t always show how safe/unsafe a location is for the people who use it every day. We asked the community for feedback and their strong responses helped shaped priorities and secured funding for road safety projects (Federal Black Spot Program, Safer Local Roads/Streets Program, and the Motorcycle Safety Levy.
What we need from you now (2027 to 2028)
We want to build on that success and are now preparing for the new 2027 to 2028 funding submissions. Community feedback will once again help us identify and prioritise locations for funding applications.
Potential treatments
Treatment types under consideration for the 2027-28 BlackSpot applications include compact roundabouts, traffic islands, intersection reconfigurations, raised treatments including raised safety platforms, linemarking, audio-tactile linemarking, raised zebra crossings, guardrail, speed limit reductions and Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) treatments including area wide 40km/h speed limit reductions and raised treatments.
How to read the map and pin colours
To provide the full picture, the map uses coloured pins to show both already funded locations and the new sites we’re considering for 2027 -2028.
Yellow Pins = Locations currently under consideration for the Safer Local Roads/Streets Program and now awaiting a funding outcome (no feedback needed).
Blue Pins = Locations that have already been funded for the Safer Local Roads/Streets Program (no feedback needed).
